Devastation
I drove for a while and finally stumbled across (what I think is) part of the levy that broke and where they were building interim closure structure at the 17th street canal.
Then I drove thru the neighborhood that had the levy in their backyard. Aside from seeing new homes, there were also empty lots, lots with only a concrete foundation left and houses that you could look in a front window and see all the way to the backyard. No walls to interrupt your view.

And the National Guard was still on duty in this neighborhood.
A lot of houses still had these marks on them. Reminds me of the Bible where they had to put the lamb's blood on the door. I digress. I am not sure exactly what the mark means completely but I do know that one part was the date, another signified who searched the place and the number at the bottom tells the number of corpses found.
